Me, Sharlyn, Jiaying ShiQi and Sarah. The photo was taken by this indian lady!

I became blacker today! YAY.

Sharlyn, Shiqi, Sarah, Jiaying and me went to Jurong Swimming complex today. Heh. We met at AMK MRT station first. Shiqi was the latest! Then Sharlyn and me hid from her when she arrived. So when she finally came, they all just walk through the gates! Mei2 liang2 xin1 de4.

We got to the swimming complex just after 1100, after going to eat a little. Quite surprised to find that in the swimming complex's eyes, we are still kids! WOW! After all the time I have been going to swimming complexes and buying the kids ticket and thinking that I am cheating. Until today, I saw the sign:

Children: Under 18 yrs old

My god!

Sarah lent me her shorts so I can wear it over. But it was super big! One pull and it drops. But nevermind, better than wearing the stoopid blue shorts that looks retarded.

So we went swimming. First in the lazy river. Then we were all very sad because there was no sun! No sun how to suntan right. After a few boring rounds we went to the wave pool where we waited for the wave to come and wash us away. So we were swimming swimming in the pool, ok, maybe not swimming, floating and looking retarded much better describes us. So we were floating around and then Sharlyn and me ended up at one side of the pool while the other 3 were at the other side. They were pulling and pushing and dont know doing what. So the both of us were sitting on our floats and alternatively watched them and watched the lifeguard laughing at them. Darn! That lifeguard was laughing at us the whole time! @&%$@%! What to do?? We were the only group in the pool at that time, so all his attention was on us. Then the wave came. The best part is the wave [obviously], and the worst part is having all the cold cold cold water sprinkling on you [I think its supposed to be rain].

After that we went to sit the slides. The blue slide was closed so we went to the pink one. Weird, they call it red. But its pink! So someone was saying that actually it was red, then it corroded and became pink. -_-"!!

Then we went to the jacuzzi for a while then the main pool. The main pool. Have to take off my shorts! We swam and sun tanned. YES! the sun was out! Great man. Then at about 1400 we left. Great decision on our part, the sun went to hide after that. heh heh. Must be because we left. We went to eat at KFC and Pizza Hut. I ate pizza. The rest ate KFC. The KFC Pizza hut was kind of cool. They had separate partitions for people still inside the swimming complex and people who are out.

So after that we were in a dilemna. Where to go? Initially we wanted to eat at Ngee Ann poly. But cant take it. Too hungry. So after that Sharlyn and me still wanted to go to Ngee Ann poly but the rest dint want to! 2 against 3. Sure lose de. heh. In the end we dint go anywhere. Went home, where I immediately went to sleep for half an hour.

Heh, wanna become even blacker!! SYF opening ceremony tommorrow. Then next unit training is next wednesday! Haiz, my sec 2s

Heh! Exams are over! Well, not that I studied really hard. Dont think I'm going to do well. I think I am like much much more slack than Sec 3's mid yr! But surprisingly the papers were not that bad. I mean, at least I could write something. Physics was okay I think. Dint study at all, seriously! So I went in and just did the paper. Kinda frustrated halfway, when I had question 3 and 4 left. Super boring having to do the darn paper. Good thing I finished rather early and went to the toilet for 3 pathetic minutes. The new teacher kept looking at me man! Must be because I was staring at the clock like an idiot. So he probably must be thinking,

"What the hell is that girl trying to do? CHEAT??"

Well yea, perhaps the clock has answers?

And biology was quite bad. I think I might just get a D or something. All the bacteria questions, how am I supposed to know the answer?? I aint a genius! Yup.

Anyway, regardless of whether I did badly or I did not so badly, exams are over, so I should go out and play play play! YAY. heh

10 hours and 40 mins more till bio is over, 15 hours 40 mins more till physics is OVER!! Hurry up time, get it over and done with! Then slow down, dont let results come back so fast!

I am gonna fail physics. Havent even started man! Impossible to pass already. Luckily I gave my mum some xin1 li3 zhun3 bei4. Cant imagine what will happen if I get the results back and show it to her. She'll probably hypreventilate and crush the paper or something. Blah.

Squad 5! [in classroom 13]

=D

25th June 2005. Extremely important day, 68th CIBTC passing out parade! 131 of us.

The day started out with me reaching HQ at 0630 in the morning! So freaking early man. Then we had our POP training. It was horrible man. I fell out like twice!! MAN! Dint know I was so weak. So basically I was feeling kind of horrible throughout the whole training. Bleh. Irritating.

After lunch was the closing ceremony and an AAR lecture. Then it was another rehearsal and then the real thing! Actually the parade was rather cool. I mean, it was the first parade i had ever attended and the first POP that CIBTC ever had! Moreover, we only had like less than 24 hours of practice. We dint do that badly, considering. The best part is that we get our rank!! But the worst part is that they took away our white cloth!!!!! ARGH! I miss my white cloth already...

Everyone was extremely high after the parade. Photos were taken and stuff.

Then, we had a last debrief at the LT26 building. Classroom 13. [remember that man!] We got our reflections back [!!] and our black notebook and our braided rope and our P/CI cert and some notes and most importantly, photos. OH, we also got our CI shirt earlier on. They changed the design! Looks weird now. The inspector word is super big and the cadet word is small!

I like our notebook, especially the last page.

Vision without action is just a dream. Action without vision is just passing time. Vision wih action can change the world

The last time i did something so stoopid was when i fell off the bed.

Chinese was kind of crappy. But what did u expect right, its an exam, obviously it'll be crappy!!

I went for Area 5 LMSC today. It was rather fun! The day actually started off not very well. The whole course was like super sianded. I was like wondering how was I going to conduct the ice breakers with stoning cadets.

Anyways, I took Squad 5. [ Squad 5 rocks!] AND! this Squad 5 also had 15 people!! How coincident is that man. I think this squad 5 wsa not bad actually. They were much more responsive than the other squads, judging from Winnie and John's description of THEIR squads. Or maybe its because their expectations are too high? I thought that today was rather beneficial, for me that is. I actually applied what we learnt in CI course. Like the effective lesson thing and the using actions and instructions to explain your message.

The instructors only came in contact with the cadets during ice breaking and MOI, which was basically the whole day. I thought I was quite retarded. Nvm, can learn from this course.

Today is a symbolic day. First time i wore a CI shirt!!

Stoopid!! Maths is hard. FREE F UP FOR GRABS!! WHO WANTS THAT FREE F!! BUY ONE GET ONE FREE! F FOR MATHS AND PHYSICS TOO!!

Oh man! One more week till exams! Hahahahaha... I went out to study today again! With Junwei and Zhenting the smelly. No wonder now i can smell the stench from her body. Aiyo. I wanted to be super hardworking and study all day long. But it seems that its not possible! I mean, i did study, for 4 hours, then we went to eat and visited Shawn, to watch Van Helsing!! Its a cool show man, should have watched in the cinemas.

Last Saturday we had another NRC. It was like POP training in the morning, then classification shoot, then drill competition THEN pioneering project. I dint know we could do so much in a day! POP training was quite bad. I reported sick la! Cannot believe it. But quite a lot of casualties from squad 5 on that saturday. Classification shoot was good. I think I got 100+. Not very sure, dint really know how the CIIs counted my score. Wells, I improved. =) Drill competition was not that bad either you know. Considering we only trained once, and without everyone present. Our performance was one of the shortest. But I thought we had creativity. Most of the other squads marched around in a squad form. Our squad was the only one that had quite a lot of formations. Hehe. Pioneering project was..... Our catapult was good. Except that we used the wrong pole! The darn thing, broke the first time we fired the catapult!! So we were like stuck with a broken catapult through the whole game. It was quite funny. And our shield!!! The biggest and absolutely useless. We dint catch a single ball. But we had quite a lot of fun I think. So it was good. THEN, the results of the written assessment came out. 69. Thank god I dint have to retake. But we dint get dinner!!!

Then, on the I dont know which day 16th june , squad 5 went to Damai Sec for the drill com practice and pioneering project. We took A LOT of photos, thats all I can say! And we ate PIZZA!!!

I went out today! As in really went out, to like have fun... Ok, maybe not so much have fun. I studied! I watched Madagascar with Junwei and Zhenting, the smelly. It was rather disappointing actually, I was expecting a funnier movie with a better plot, judging from the cute and funny trailers. Dint really leave much of an impact on me.

After that we went to eat and walk about J8. Then, we saw ROSLINA and JIALING!! Havent seen them for a long long time. Then, a few minutes later, we saw HONGWEI. That guy, gave us a weird look, as usual. So, we went to study at AMK library. And, we saw JOEI and her friends. What a day. And I studied chemistry.

I like to Move it move it, I like to Move it move it, I like to Move it move it, Ya like to -- MOVE IT!

The Power of the Dream
Celine Dion

Deep within each heart
There lies a magic spark
That lights the fire of our imagination
And since the dawn of man
The strenght of just "I can"
Has brought together people of all nations

There's nothing ordinary
In the living of each day
There's a special part
Every one of us will play

Feel the flame forever burn
Teaching lessons we must learn
To bring us closer to the power of the dream
As the world gives us its best
To stand apart from all the rest
It is the power of the dream that brings us here

Your mind will take you far
The rest is just pure heart
You'll find your fate is all your own creation
Every boy and girl
As they come into this world
They bring the gift of hope and inspiration

Feel the flame forever burn
Teaching lessons we must learn
To bring us closer to the power of the dream
The world unites in hope and peace
We pray that it will always be
It is the power of the dream that brings us here

There's so much strength in all of us
Every woman child and man
It's the moment that you think you can!
You'll discover that you can

Feel the flame forever burn
Teaching lessons we must learn
To bring us closer to the power of the dream
The world unites in hope and peace
We pray that it will always be
It is the power of the dream that brings us here

Feel the flame forever burn
Teaching lessons we must learn
To bring us closer to the power of the dream
The world unites in hope and peace
We pray that it will always be
It is the power of the dream that brings us here

The power of the dream
The faith in things unseen
The courage to embrace your fear
No matter where you are
To reach for your own star
To realize the power of the dream

Wells, back from CIATC! Two more days till I graduate from the course! ATC was not as fun as the RC, in my opinion. I also have no idea why. It started off with me going to HQ. As usual, a lot of people from Squad Five was already there! Squad 5 rocks, always the earliest! Then Rejig proceeded to take attendance. It was very badly done, messy and disorganised. There were people who were supposed to be at HQ who were NOT at HQ, and there were people who dropped out of course.

Then, we left for the jetty. It was also VERY messy at the jetty. All you can see were clumps of people asking other people to move faster and a lot of blur faces. Not a very good start.

Groups 1,2 and 3's first activity was sea ex. Actually it was quite fun. I changed partners twice! First I was with Huiping, then with Jessica and finally with Calista. And you know what! We were onyl given 9 pathetic minutes to wash up! I dint even get to rinse myself and some people, went in and took a shower with SHAMPOO and SOAP!

I think that that was Calista's most unlucky day! First she cut her foot, then she cut her eye and THEN she sprained her leg! So the both of us were eating dinner during the mock campfire. Wenjie and Jiajunn actually came over to help us cook and wash up. Woah, they are nice man.

After that was debrief then bedtime. I dint exactly have a good night's sleep. Firstly, our basha was about to collasp any moment, and the ground was so hard. Groups 4,5 and 6 pitched the bashas. They were like, basha 2 cannot be slept in! Then, they asked us to sleep in that very same basha. Wonderful. I woke up like about 20 times that night, each time thinking that it was already 6am. Then once, i woke up and found the pressure lamp burning.

The next day was land ex. Mostly orienteering stuff. I dint really enjoy the orienteering stuff, because I cant really catch the concept. Rejig was split into 2 groups, one group carrying a lot of logistics and the other group with Calista. Rejig is REALLY VERY HELPFUL! Seriously! Everyone will be offering a helping hand to anyone who seems to be having difficulty carrying stuff. We went to quite a lot of places, bermuda triangle, chicken feet and the orchid garden, where we saw the wild boar and other birds and were food for the mosquitos. We also went to the knoll of Sam Heng Estate and saw the lion head on the stone. I think the trip back to campsite was much more fun. We were singing National day(??) songs! Yeap, morale was rather high. And guess what! We got to shower!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After lunch we had an introduction to the power boat, single rope pull, double rope pull, warden's walk, suicide window and campsite familiarisation. Nothing much actually. Dinner that night was catered. So we sat in a circle with our food in our hands and with our utensils, fanned the mosquitos away.

Then came the campfire. Everyone was very high, especially the CIIs. Everyone was screaming and shouting the cheers out loud. The CIIs sang 'the power of the dream' for their performance. Its a rather meaningful song by Celine Dion. I guess it was supposed to inspire us. They really coordinated well, all the lightsticks waving in the same direction and all. After that we had our individual group debriefs then it was supposed to be mass debrief. BUT, we were given 1 hour to wash up, actually it was meant for the sea ex people to take a bath. Quite unfair uhh, we werent given time to take a bath the day before and now they are given 1 hour! After that was lights out and sentry. Rejig was late for sentry!!

On the third and final day of the CIATC, we had PT. Actually it wasnt so bad. The run was very slow and so it wasnt that tiring. After that was area cleaning. THANK GOD we got the canteen to clean up and NOT the toilets! But it was still tedious. The final activity was the competition. Actually it was also rather fun. After that was photo taking time and giving out the encouragement badges and announcing of the best camper. Jiajunn and Jiaying were the best campers!

The trip back to the jetty was not very tiring. Perhaps because we were going home, and morale was super high. I think all the people at Pulau Ubin must have been wondering who the hell we were.

Then, Winnie, Subash, Joeyee, Xinhui and me went to eat at Mac. Unwise decision on my part. Cuz I went home and fell sick. Bleh.

I just came back from RC yesterday. Seriously, words cannot describe the experience I had. It simply is just beyond words. I had a great time and was actually quite sad on the last day. Time really flies during those six days. I think no one can ever go through the experience unless they have been through a CI course.

The first day was an eventful day, like my instructor put it. I will never look at the word eventful and not think back on that very day. I suppose the whole batch was not performing on that day, and with the comparison of the May course, the instructors were not exactly very satisfied. THEN, my squad was the duty squad!! And we screwed up big time and delayed like almost half an hour. Then Miss Lee scolded the whole batch and during debrief, our squad was given the ultimatum to either vote someone out of the course or the whole squad will have to get out. I dont know, I was feeling a little lost at that point of time. I mean, it was only the first day and already we are given this kind of ultimatum and only 2 minutes to come up with our decision. I could see that our whole squad was shocked and also quite lost. Without thinking, we all decided to get out of the course as a squad. So we packed our bags and matched to the drill shed. I still remembered that on that very morning, we were still wondering about how we were going to march out on the last day because of our heavy bags. I dint even imagine that I wuld be carrying my bag again and marching out so soon. I dint believe that we woud be thrown out of the course because something like that happened in our unit too and no one was thrown out. But yea, we marched to the drill shed and there we got scolded, screamed at, shouted at by Miss Lee and Miss Loy. I couldnt exactly remember what they said, only that the words 'passion' and 'Do you really want to get out of the course' were being mentioned a lot of times. They made us see that we made an extremely rash decision and we will regret it if we werent given the second chance. They criticised that we were smiling and laughing when packing and writing the letter of resignation from the course. I think its not because we are happy or anything. It was a false front, a facade, to conceal our inner feelings. No one wanted to get out, obviously. In the end, Ridhuan and Peihao said that they wanted to quit the course because they felt that they would not be able to cope. The remaining 13 of us went back to the bunks, with many reflections and the promise to do better the next day. I had felt like crying.

When i reached my bunk, I was like quite lost. I dint know what to do first. Its like the after math of all the trauma that my squad went through, extra special night time treatment. You probably would not understand how it feels unless you are one of the 15 of us. That night, I kept waking up at hourly intervals, too nervous to sleep. I remember thinking about how was I going to go throught the rest of the 5 days, with the first day already being so horrible. From that incident, I think I have learnt alot. Learnt that making rash decisions really has big big consequences.

The second day was much better. We started the morning with life skills, where Kenneth sir and Irfah mam talked to us about the previous evening and gave us this story about not giving up. I felt like crying again. That incident is like a raw part inside. Then after that we had knots and lashings session, taught by our squad mate. After that was rope obstacle. Heh heh, I was the fastest to tie all three rope obstacles without mistakes!! Then we had mass run, I almost died! I mean, the run was still ok, but the last part where we had to take our box files and water bottle and to run really almost killed me.

I really enjoyed myself on the second day, definately it was much much better than the first and our squad was also much better and more enthu, we have a squad cheer and a batch cheer and everything seemed great! Yea, and that night, I was doing my reflections and talking to Jueling on the phone. Then guess what!! Xiaojun mam came in to do bunk check la!! WOAHH! so suay.

The third and fourth day was really good. It seemed that it could not have been better. Morale wsa high, debrief was funny and faces were alight with smiles. And, there was this time whn my squad was the last one to arrive at the bunk area. When we arrived, there were already a few people who have already changed. My squad rushed in, and came out in record time!! We managed to leave the area together with the other squads. That is something that i am extremely proud of. I also realised that my squad always finish eating the earliest. And that is not because most of us eat fast, its that most of us dont eat!! Yeap, and I really learnt alot of hard skills and soft skills from Kenneth sir and Irfah mam. I think Kenneth sir is like damn pro la! For every life skills session, he will like say that he attended this this this this course before and can tell us a lot of things that are really meaningful, once, after listening to what he had to say, I was like raring to go home and start studying for mid yr!

On the third night, Kezia and Winnie came to my bunk and we gossipped like mad. It was then that I realised that I actually liked the course a lot!

Then came the fifth day, we are the duty squad again. That was the time when adversity came. We were taken by Zaki sir and Chengyun sir for arms drill. I think the way that Zaki sir taught drill is really good. But, Joeyee was our IC at that time and he was nervous, very. He gave weird commands and all of them were wrong. I guess our squad was very impatient and we pressurised him until he almost broke down. Then there was the special program. It was not very well done, we lacked the communication skills and the teamwork that we thought was there. I think day 5 was almost like day 1, quite bad. And I was super pissed of with this guy in my squad. Lets call him A. He is super irritating and will keep scolding people who dont lift their hands 90 45 or dont lock their elbows. Come on, look at yourself, is your drill really that gd that it warrants you permission to scream at your own squad mates. We are not your cadets for goodness sake. I had doubts about my squad's strong bonds on that day.

The last day was memorable. We had our assessment. I forgot one of the 5 family of knots!! I cant believe it!! Nvm. I think on the last day, everyone was super high and hyper. Our squad was especially violent during PT and a lot of us were laughing at almost nothing at all. Lack of sleep? Kezia and Winnie came to my bunk to study for the assessment and to do reflections. Actually my whole bunk was already awake by around 2 plus in the morning. So all of us were like studying.

At night, the last activity was debrief. It was sad. Once the words ' the eventful first day' was mentioned, I started like crying.. So paiseh. Winnie was sitting beside me and she was already crying! Then Kezia also cried and gradually more and more people started too. Whatever that Kenneth sir and Irfah man spoke about during that debrief was meaningful and very touching. he spoke about our squad not necessarily being the best but we can be the best in our own way. And that our instructors are not as strict as the other instructors because they believe that talking to us is a more effective way and that hopefully we would remember what they have told us.

I remember the moments, when we were having orienteering in the atrium, when we were having lamp lighting in the drill shed, when we marched and ran in the rain, when we were having meals together, when doing drill in the Annex, when having our live shoot, when we changed the fastest...

Squad 5 , J05 , 3rd -8th June

Ooh.. I got 98 for live shoot!! hahaz
